I write mostly on ways of being Christian and moments in popular culture that catch my attention. I apparently emphasize worship and discipleship, where they intersect with music, film, and a coupl’a books. Toss in a few interesting links, some family snapshots, and that’s about it.
I’m a half Southern CA and half West Texas bred lifelong Stone-Campbellite with occasional adventures in Anabaptist, emerging and charismatic communities; a seminary student exploring liturgy and North American culture; a typical music junkie and film fanatic; happily married with two kids; living in Southern California (in no particular order).
Here are other expanding attempts to articulate a rationale for taking up webspace:
A. I have always dreamed of fame and power, and this seemed the perfect means to my destiny.
B. This is a repository of the lugubrious prose that makes up the hurdles to productivity in my life. My blog life is tangent management, or maybe better, a great place for first drafts to rest in peace. An added bonus is that my friends don’t get massive, pontificating tome-ish e-mails from me every time I think of the answer to a question they didn’t ask.
C. My brain is cluttered with seemingly urgent thoughts about faith, culture, and the superior merits of Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around.” These ideas may not be safe for concrete expression, but here’s a nice fluid place to put them. I can barely contain myself when I imagine that someone might stop by and comment now and then.
D. All rabbit trails, all the time.
E. I’ll put my searchable personal info on this page after, if ever, I am employed.
F. I hope to make a contribution though speech, action, presence, and final drafts to family, community, neighbors, and body of Christ. Everything else goes here. So, I s’pose it is the practice of idly written absentia. Feverishly idle.
G. I always enjoy our time together.
H. I stole this name from a friend in high school (if you are that friend, HEY! I’m so glad I found you!). It is built on the premise that one’s thoughts could be worth about a penny.
I. An expanding collection of unnecessary inferences.
J. To better articulate the contribution I am making in the world, here is a list of some search terms used to find this blog: “keanu;” “pandora;” “haikus on responsibility;” “how to become telekinetic” (x2); “suspenders;” “figure out future lovers name;” “sevenfold amen listen;” “what to write on when people say I dont;” “willn’t” (multiple); “evry kinds of pepol” (that pretty much sums it up); “rogerian TV characters” (multiple); “moonfrye;” “the nice beat;” “dance words that begin with s;” “a great revolution in the brain world;” “with vats of good cheer;” “david fish swimsuit;” “how many ways to make change for 36 cent” (the internets are VERY interested in this); “how to use the entire brain;” “olden day homeless;” “planet theme HAT;” “cammelites;” “brandon graves is a baller” (I couldn’t agree more); “famous prizes to win;” “truth about palmolive;” “lemley pasadena theater” (hope they found it); “orangutan comedy;” “christmas songs and flashlights;” “what to eat before swimming;” “‘bowling winner;'” “apologia timberlake” (multiple); “what will happen if i do not help him;” “nice words that begin with l;” “Dunstan the orangutan;” “best songs 2005;” “win prizes using brain;” “cons against legislating morality;” “exotic locations of 2007;” “some good sentance for lovers;” “president nixon;” “songs about cap’n crunch;” “”tops without socks;” “eat locust and honey;” “drinking beer before swimming;” “high tops without socks;” “sweet and low brain.”
K. People often ask me, “‘Pnwa, between work and school and family, how is it that you have time for this blog?” “Well,” I reply, “I have no idea who you are or what you’re talking about.”
L. I guess it’s not really about anything.
M. I’m pinning down stray thoughts in their rough, early forms to see what they look like in print, maybe to revisit and develop, maybe get a little conversation going that breathes life into them, or maybe to come back later and see how they’ve grown.
As I write this, I’ve just listened to Larimore sing “Ombra Mai Fu” from “Xerses” (Xerxes?..just because I like this sort of genre doesn’t mean I can spell half of it…I just know what I like to hear), one of my favorites arias, as inspiration to responding to this amazing blog. I suppose I must go back to your #1 entry, and make a rudimentary lexicon. I surmise that my only offspring (who authors “Sweetpea’s Patch”) and you are acquainted from Pepperdine. I try to listen to all your music offerings as I am somewht of an eclectic audiophile as well. So, I shall start at the beginning of your blog site, and perhaps my brain cells will be richer for that. I certainly enjoy your “links”, and I’m glad to see you have my offspring’s blog site on your “Top Clicks”. I think she’s amazing, but then, I’m prejudiced. I’ve always told her she should WRITE for a profession. Since she was 5!
Thanks – this is like having a great blurb on my dustcover. I think Wendy’s a great writer, too.
Well, shucks. Thanks.
I finally added you to my blogroll. 36 thoughts at a time? Who says guys can’t multitask?

Hm.
Sorry about possible employers (letter E) – I found you by searching your name!
You’re so nice to have read this all the way to letter E.
